Tory & Jeff

Jeff popped the question at Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar right after picking up the rings from Ferris Coin & Jewelry Co. He had other plans to propose later at Cape Cod that he’d told friends and family about, but once he got the rings, he couldn’t wait.

One minute he was ordering margaritas, the next he was on one knee.

“I could not hold myself together for any longer,” says Jeff.

Tory and Jeff were “blind dates” for Tory’s high school prom. Tory was a student at Emma Willard School and her friends were bringing boys from La Salle Institute. She asked them to bring a date for her, and they brought Jeff.

“We had a great time. We laughed a lot. We danced. We had a ball,” says Tory. “Then we kind of hung out and stayed in touch that summer, but we were both going away to college and we lost touch.”

Ten years later, when Tory was moving back to the Capital Region, she was going through her phone looking to reconnect with old friends from the area and saw Jeff’s number.

“Prom date?” she texted him.

“Prom date!” he texted back.

Now they’ve been together for more than three years.

Jeff is a coin collector, and was familiar with Ferris Coin & Jewelry’s coin collection. While Jeff looked at coins in the store, Tory would eye the jewelry collection. Over the years, Jeff got Tory rings as gifts from Ferris.

“They’re different, one-of-a-kind, and special,” says Tory.

So when they started talking about marriage, Jeff knew exactly where to go for rings.

“Amanda was awesome. She sat with us for so long showing us different types of bands,” says Tory. They narrowed down what type of band Tory liked, and a month later, Jeff went back and picked out the diamond and setting himself.

“It’s not something I’ve ever really done before,” says Jeff. “Amanda made it easy, selecting the best options for us to look at.”

Tory and Jeff got married on July 29, 2021 on Old Silver Beach in Massachusetts, and Jeff gave all his groomsmen silver coins from Ferris for the wedding.

“I would recommend Ferris to anybody. Never once when we went in did we feel pressured to buy something or spend more than had planned. It was the easiest shopping experience,” says Tory.

Nils & Kelly

Nils and Kelly met as kids at summer camp. Years ago, they reconnected through a group of friends and found they had an undeniable connection.

Nils and Kelly have now been dating for nearly a decade and both had not planned on tying the knot for a second time. But at some point along the way, they knew they were meant to take that next step together.

“Who were we fooling?” says Nils.

They couldn’t help it — they soon found themselves casually walking into jewelry stores, hypothetically talking about the ideal engagement ring. Eventually, they arrived at Ferris Coin & Jewelry to view the unique selection of vintage rings.

“With the help of Amanda, we got a solid sense of Kelly’s dream engagement ring,” says Nils.

When they left, Kelly thought it was just another stop in a jewelry store, but Nils had made up his mind about where he wanted to buy the ring.

Kelly said she just wanted a simple, round diamond ring. But Nils wanted to give her the best, and so he hand-selected a stunning classic diamond for the center with an elegant mounting to reflect his wholehearted love and commitment to Kelly.

“It was very important to him that the center stone stood on its own,” says Kelly, who is “pleased as punch” by the brilliant ring. “He feels like this ring is a reflection of him.”

Nils surprised Kelly when he proposed at a beach house on the first day of a three-week vacation in North Carolina.

“What if I had said no?” Kelly says, laughing at the thought of how the rest of that vacation would have played out.

“That distinct possibility never entered my mind,” says Nils. “It wasn’t something I was even thinking about.”

Of course, Kelly said “yes.” Kelly and Nils were married in August 2021 in North Carolina, where they are building a new home. They also purchased their wedding bands from Ferris Coin & Jewelry to take with them in the next chapter of their life together.
